Good Product — Good Pictures & Minor Irritations by C. Bloomquist
Negatives:

1. I’m somewhat color blind and cannot tell when the battery charger’s (model “BCM-2″) “Charge” light changes from red to green when charging is complete. I must either ask my wife or wait until the charger cools off to determine if the charger is done. It would be much better if the light just went off when the charging process is completed;

2. Gadget bag could be larger;

3. Minor complaint - the gadget bag is labeled “VidPro”. This is not a video camera;

4. Wide angle lens - the zoom adjusting ring does not rotate smoothly, however, it is not bad enough to call it a defect (close, though);

5. Transparent material (sample of 3 supplied) that is used to cover the monitor (protect it from scratches, etc.) is difficult to put on and comes off too easily if an edge hooks on clothing;

6. Buttons labeled in red (”Playback” & “Erase”) — I cannot see the red labels.

Positives:

1. Pre-programmed shooting modes cover mostly every situation I will ever encounter and are easy to use. I am not a professional but have 2 older digital cameras (plus several film cameras) and this one seems to be a lot easier (intuitive) for me to use than most of the others are;

2. Photographs are very good quality (to me, anyway);

3. I like the feel of the camera in my hands;

4. I like the multitude of buttons that enable me to select various functions without needing to go to the electronic menus. I know some previous reviews have criticized these buttons saying there are too many. I think that’s a personal choice because I prefer them. They make good shortcuts to the various camera settings & functions and they are well identified (except for the two labeled in red);

4. I like the electronic menu for quickly selecting the most often used settings;

5. I think it’s a very good product — but I’m not a professional and I’m somewhat “color challenged”. I have gradually worked my way over to digital cameras from film cameras over the years and this one seems as good as any I’ve previously owned — that includes a Rolleiflex 2.8f TLR (120 film) which was my favorite for many years until it became too difficult to find film for it.
